The legacy of sweet and sour pork
This is my attempt to replicate my Mum's signature dish gu lao rou 咕噜肉. Showing steps how-to make it so that my daughter will one day make it for herself :)


1.Marinate pork with an egg and some soy sauce.

2. Tapioca starch is the best to create that crispy texture.

3. Coat meat with flour.

4. Heat up a pan of oil and deep-fry the meat until they are golden brown.

5. Leave them to cool.

6. Prepare the sweet and sour sauce - cook ketchup, sweet chilli sauce, vinegar and sugar in a skillet. Add in some bell peppers, tomatoes and pineapples.

7. Pour sauce onto meat. Ready to eat :)
