Classes

High School Visual Design (Semester 1)
This course is a foundation to 2-D art i.e. drawing, painting and mixed media, and 3-D art i.e. sculpture and assemblage. The main theme, Portraiture is used to structure the study of the characteristics and concepts of the Elements and Principles of Art/Design. Students will express their ideas by applying and discussing what they understand while implementing them in their work. The assignments will be based on observational, expressive, abstract and imaginative forms. They will also develop their artistic techniques and skills by exploring and working with a diversity of media and materials. Art History is incorporated into the study of the topics related.
High School 3D (Semester 2)
In this course, students will create and design three dimensional forms by using and exploring materials such as clay, plaster, wires, papers and other found materials. There will be an emphasis on the Elements and Principles of Art and Design namely, line, texture, space, form, colour, balance, pattern and unity. Students should anticipate a hands-on experience in their production of artwork and develop problem-solving, creative and critical thinking skills. Students are expected to maintain a sketchbook in their research, note taking and self-evaluation. Also introduced in the class are historical and contemporary sculpture works.


Middle School Grade 7
This course emphasises and builds in-depth into the characteristics and concepts of the Elements of Art and the Principles of Design. Students are provided a strong foundation in design, drawing and vocabulary. Students will build on their problem solving and decision-making skills while creating their art.
Middle School Art Elective (Semester 1)
This course introduces the Pop art movement which provides students to explore and develop the characteristics and concepts of the Elements of Art and the Principles of Design. A few artists will be highlighted e.g. Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, Wayne Thiebaud, Duane Hanson, Roy Lichtenstein, David Hockney, etc.
Students will connect the artists’ style and techniques into creating their artworks and by implementing the ideas of the popular culture they are living in today.
