1st Semester
In the Art Room
This course is a foundation to 2-D art i.e. drawing, painting and mixed media, and 3-D art i.e. sculpture and assemblage. The main theme, Portraiture is used to structure the study of the characteristics and concepts of the Elements and Principles of Art/Design. Students will express their ideas by applying and discussing what they understand while implementing them in their work. The assignments will be based on observational, expressive, abstract and imaginative forms. They will also develop their artistic techniques and skills by exploring and working with a diversity of media and materials. Art History is incorporated into the study of the topics related.

3D Design
2nd Semester
In the Art Room
In this course, students will create and design three dimensional forms by using and exploring materials such as clay, plaster, wires, papers and other found materials. There will be an emphasis on the Elements and Principles of Art and Design namely, line, texture, space, form, colour, balance, pattern and unity. Students should anticipate a hands-on experience in their production of artwork and develop problem-solving, creative and critical thinking skills. Students are expected to maintain a sketchbook in their research, note taking and self-evaluation. Also introduced in the class are historical and contemporary sculpture works.
